Quinn Reimbursed NYC $18,000 in Travel Costs

The campaign expenditure filings by out New York City Democrat Christine Quinn show she reimbursed the City just over $18,000 for travel expenses, from March 2011 through March of this year.

Seems odd she would reimburse the City these costs, and I emailed her campaign spokesman Mike Morey of the powerhouse consulting firm SKDKnickerbocker, requesting more info.

Why would the City pay for anything to do with what is labeled political travel on the forms? Couldn't the campaign simply pay the costs upfront? What about the destinations on the travel dates?

Wish I knew, but repeated emails to Morey produced no answers.
