EQCA: There Won't Be an
Independent Analysis Of No on 8

The man who was the face of the disastrous No on 8 campaign, Geoff Kors who also serves as the executive director of Equality California because A-gays and moneyed Democrats adore him, is one slick cookie. I still don't understand why he's collecting a sizable pay check as a professional gay leader when he was a key person who created the No on 8 blunder and lost $45 million, and he's held not a single public meeting with the San Francisco community.

His latest success at avoiding being held accountable was reported in the Bay Area Reporter. Even though he clearly promised in many interviews, including this one with Japhy Grant over at Queerty.com, that he'd hire a political firm to do an independent analysis of where the No on 8 effort went wrong and why. From the interview:

Queerty: No on 8 has announced that there will be an independent analysis of the campaign, but we still don't know who is going to do the analysis and when we can expect it. Is there any more information?

Kors: Well, I know it's going to happen. We're finding people who have run similar campaigns, but it's important that we choose people who were not involved in the campaign at all. I know that there are those who disagree with me, but I believe the results of the analysis should be reported to the community. I think it's important that we do that and that there's nothing about how we lost that could, you know, be used against us in future campaigns. Again, I know there are those who disagree with me on this.

Seems abundantly clear from the question and the reply from Kors that the assessment under discussion will pertain to the full election effort, not just EQCA's role. Right, or do my 420 medicated eyes deceive me?

The news today in the BAR is that Kors has indeed hired a firm, but not to look at the No on 8 failure, er, campaign but just the smaller role EQCA played. Guess the talk and promise Kors gave to Queerty was more of his slippery b.s. that somehow keeps him on the Gay Inc payroll.

From the BAR:

[Kors] said EQCA has retained Woodward and McDowell to do an assessment.

Ted Green with Woodward and McDowell said that the company would be doing a report for EQCA that looks at EQCA's role in the No on Prop 8 campaign.

"That's a very separate and different animal from an overall analysis of the campaign," Green said.

Kors said specific questions about topics such as the ads, field work, and use of political leaders would be better answered by other campaign officials.

I long for the day when Kors is sweeping the gutters of Castro Street.
