Bay City News:
Small Fire at Castro Theatre Last Night

Over at the SF Appeal, from the Bay City News, is a report on a small blaze at the historic and magnificent movie palace:

Firefighters also responded to a one-alarm fire at the Castro Theatre, located at 429 Castro Street. That blaze was reported at 7:38 p.m. and was under control within 20 minutes, the dispatcher said.

Good to know the fire was small and contained very quickly. Let's hope the theatre can still operate and show films while the owner repairs the damage. And remember, the Frameline gay film festival kicks off at the Castro on June 14 and runs through June 23. Program and ticket info are here.
