AP: Yes on 8: 'Nothing Misleading' Using Obama Quote

The direct mail piece hitting voters' mailboxes this weekend generated a wire story yesterday and a spokesman for the Yes on 8 forces defended the mailer. From the AP:

Jeff Flint, ProtectMarriage.com co-manager, said there was nothing misleading about quoting Obama in the mailer.

"The mailer doesn't say he is in favor of 8, It quotes him on things he has said. That's indisputable," Flint said.

I found the AP story posted over at the Fox News web site, where a string of nasty comments have been posted. Click here to read the full story and the snarky remarks from Fox News fans.

The fabulous Pam Spaulding over at her blog points out somethingis missing about the reaction from the Obama/Biden campaign site:

What [the mailer] does do is reiterate Barack Obama's and Joe Biden's public opposition to 8. I do have to note that I received this press release [from the No on 8 campaign reminding readers that Obama/Biden oppose Prop 8] via email; I have not seen this posted on the Obama web site. If someone finds it, let me know.

What Pam has not seen posted yet on the Obama site is this:

"Senators Obama and Biden have made clear their commitment to fighting for equal rights for all Americans whether it's by granting LGBT Americans all the civil rights and benefits available to heterosexual couples, or repealing 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell.' While Senators Obama and Biden oppose same-sex marriage, they support civil unions," said a statement issued by campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt. "Senator Obama has already announced that the Obama-Biden ticket opposes Proposition 8 and similar discriminatory constitutional amendments that could roll back the civil rights he and Senator Biden strongly believe should be afforded to all Americans."

Like Pam, I'd like to know if anyone finds that great statement, or anything denouncing the yes on 8 direct mail piece, posted on the Obama site this weekend.
