In 2001, Sulzberger, NYT News Staff Funded N.Y.C. Pols

Before the New York Times instituted a policy barring reporters and editors from donating to political campaigns, a good number of Times news staffers wrote checks out for New York City politicians in the 2001 election cycle.

And none other than the chairman himself, Arthur Sulzberger, coughed up some dough for a local candidate running for mayor.
