Gingerfruit: Castro's New
Asian Tapas Dining Spot

The folks behind the former Pudong restaurant located on Market Street near Dolores, opposite Safeway, couldn't attract a crowd and turn a profit operating a dim sum menu, but new owners are about to open an Asian-tapas fusion eatery at the same spot.

A sign on the front door says the new establishment, called Gingerfruit, starts serving food and drinks early next week. There's also fresh signage decorating the windows, as you see in the pic I took yesterday.

Gingerfruit is two-blocks away from the just-opened gay-straight fusion bar and lounge at Church and 14th Street, Churchill, and it's refreshing to see this boomlet of new businesses blossoming on the edge of the Castro.

Here's hoping Gingerfruit enjoys a long and healthy operation for years to come.

And Citizen moves into the old A Different Light store while Soup Freak gets ready to move into corner store at 18th and Castro kitty corner across from Harvey's.
