FBI to Release Lesbian
Astronaut Sally Ride's File

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is taking less time responding to my FOIA requests, and in some instances there's a reduced waiting period for actual documents.

Soon after lesbian American astronaut Sally Ride died in July, I sent off a request for copies of any documents the agency may have on her, and yesterday this response arrived via snail mail:

This is in response to your Freedom of Information/Privacy Acts (FOIPA) request regarding Sally Ride. Due to the high volume of interest in the subject, the responsive records are being processed and will be made available on the FBI's website [http://vault.fbi.gov/hot-topics]. However, you may request a copy on CD for $15.

Once the records are posted online for public inspection, I'll be very curious to learn why there is a file on Ride and if it contains anything related to her being a lesbian.
