Hush-Hush: Cleve's Intimate SF Conversation
A friend passed along a curious invitation from Rick Jacob's Courage Campaign, all about a chat next week here with Cleve Jones. In keeping with the non-transparency of the organizing pulling together Cleve's DC march in the fall, some important info is missing - the location:
Please join Courage Campaign Founder and Chair
Rick Jacobs
for an intimate discussion with
ACTIVIST CLEVE JONES
Monday, August 17th
6:00-8:00pm
San Francisco Location Provided Upon RSVP
Space is extremely limited for this intimate discussion.
TO RSVP, please call Marjan Philhour at
415-692-3556 or email mphilhour@gmail.com
Why would organizers of the 2010 ballot initiative to win back gay marriage in CA and the DC march hold an event at this point in the organizing process in San Francisco that was on the down low?
I don't know if it's fear of being zapped or just wanting to be elitist, but it seems odd that Cleve and Rick Jacobs are taking a page out of the losing No on 8 executive committee playbook. Let's see if word trickles out from next week's intimate discussion and we all get a clue about it.
To those who've worked in development(like me) this just looks like a standard invitation to potential donors. Probably not a secret political meeting.
ReplyDeletewell, why not just say it's a meeting for potential donors and just give out the location? in any event, thanks for the explanation.
ReplyDeleteMarjan is in charge of Courage's fundraising...so I echo the first comment...often when people host fundraisers at their home they don't post their address and the event is closed...not everything is a conspiracy. i enjoy your blog, but the anti-Rick Jacobs/Cleve Jones/Courage Campaign is getting old to me.
ReplyDeleteI just donated
ReplyDelete$5000.00 to the march and happy to do it at the request of my friend Brad Pitt.
