SF Chron: Supe Dufty Meets 49ers,
Inspects Mayor's Toilet

Hi Bevan,

Happy new year queen! Long time no hear.

Let's see, it was eight weeks ago that I last spoke with you in your new fabulous corner office at City Hall, and you told me for the seventh time you would be meeting with Geoff Kors of EQCA to discuss how much you agreed with me that we need community forums in the Castro with him and other No on 8 leaders. Gay gatherings to heal the wounds of the campaign.

Did you ever have that meeting with Kors? I sure would like to know if anything came of your discussion with him.

You must be aware that Kors and EQCA are holding a summit, that looks like it might be something I never expected to see from that crew, transparent and open, and down in Los Angeles.

I think this is the fifth public forum in LA since we lost gay marriage equailty, while there has not been a single comparable town hall in the Castro.

Harvey must be spinning in his grave over that shameful comparison with our brothers and sisters in Southern California.

What have you been up to? I see in the SF Chronicle's political gossip column you met the owners of the 49ers:

In December, new team President Jed York met with Supervisors Bevan Dufty and Sophie Maxwell and hinted that - depending on the outcome of their efforts in Santa Clara - he might come back to the city in three to six months to talk about a Candlestick rehab.

Dufty said he was under the impression they weren't talking about the kind of massive makeover that Chicago's Soldier Field got, "but something that might be north of $100 million."

How did the meeting with the Niners go? I hope you'll oppose providing any public dollars to the football team because tax dollars for stadiums are nothing but corporate sports welfare and would be a waste of taxes.

You really know how to keep yourself covered in ink. You go, girl! Hanging with the Gavster and his missus at their fancy, newly remodeled pad:

That was a cozy get-together the other night between Gavin Newsom and San Francisco supervisors at the mayor's Russian Hill penthouse apartment. By all accounts, everyone was well-behaved.

"I checked out the bathroom," Supervisor Bevan Dufty said. "It's been redone, and he has a new tub with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge that's stunning."

When you're not taken up with helping the Niners feed at the public trough or inspecting the Mayor's home toilet, I'd like to know what you think about the Castro queens and queers who still hunger for what they have with regular frequency in Los Angeles - community meetings.

It's never too late to emulate Harvey's philosophy: You gotta give 'em public forums along with the hope!

Cheers,
Michael
