Rolling Stone's Wenner's Prop 8 Donations

The occasionally muck-raking Rolling Stone this week printed a highly critical article of the No on 8 leadership and their campaign, which was riddled with anonymous, but bitchy, criticism.

Kate Kendell, who may still be on that cruise up the Nile river, posted this snark at the magazine's web site:

When Dickinson called to interview me about the No on Prop 8 campaign it became obvious he wasn't interested in the facts about the campaign, he wanted only information that supported this hit piece. When he didn't like my answers, he just asked more leading questions. We lost. Yes, as in any campaign, mistakes were made, but to quote from unnamed sources and anonymous gay leaders running for cover in the wake of this devastating loss while ignoring all facts that don't support your assasination attempt against those who worked tirelessly for months is not jouralism, it's just trash. Dickinson should ply his "blaming the victim" tactics with the National Enquirer.

Speaking of working tirelessly, and those who didn't, I wonder if Kate would care to weigh in the long vacations taken by Lorri Jean and Geoff Kors during the campaign.

And what about the donations to defeat Prop 8 from Rolling Stone's openly gay owner Jann Wenner? He didn't make any, according to this search engine. Same goes for Wenner's lifemate Matt Nye. Maybe they have noses for stinking losers like the No on 8 campaign.

At the federal level, Wenner gave $16,300 to Barack Obama, and has also contributed thousands of dollars to Democratic Party committees, PACs and candidates. Click here to read his FEC donations' file.

  1. Jann must have sensed that giving to "No on 8" was throwing money down a rat hole.

  2. I'm not sure I trust the Prop 8 contribution database. It consistently shows me as contributing nothing, and I know that is not factual.
