Amazon: Mary Cheney's Book Sells for Seven Cents a Copy

It has been about a year since Mary Cheney, lesbian daughter of Vice President Cheney and his wife Lynne, and a tedious apologist for the Bush administration, published a boring book.

She was rumored to have received a large advance from the publisher, close to $1 million, but Cheney's book never found an audience either among the GOP base or in gay circles. Her memoir never hit any best-seller lists and it will probably be best remembered as her shameless grab for a fat check.

Unfortunately, many trees were felled for Cheney's book and you can now purchased the damn thing for a mere $0.07. That's seven cents, folks, for a used copy. A new one could set you back $1.89. Heck, it's going to cost more for shipping charges than the price of the book.

At least some dames can get 10 cents a dance, like in that old song, but this Cheney chick can barely get 7 cents a book!

I am guessing her dad could write a "hunting primer" and do almost as well...

  3. I think the upside is that we could put it back on the best seller list for a couple hundred bucks.

  5. I wonder why she isn't considered a 'gay militant' by the same Republicans who demonize gays who just want to have a healthy marriage or equal survivorship rights or anything else. Yet Mary has a artificial baby, a fake marriage to her lesbian bedroom partner, and pushed Coors beer to homosexuals - yet John Kerry is a "son-of-a-bitch" for just mentioning her orientation. Where are your basic values Log Cabin?

  7. Odd. When some publisher wanted to reissue her mama's hot but badly written romance with lesbian overtone, Sisters, the project was mysteriously canceled. I can't think why.

  8. Hey, Anonymous. I found this little gem after about 5 seconds on the Wikipedia:

The book became a New York Times best-seller in 1996. And, in 1997, she received a Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album for her audio recording of the book. In 2006, the book was republished as the "10th Anniversary Edition" with a new cover design and an introduction by the author.

I don't mean to be pedantic but that's pretty much the dictionary definition of "exact opposite" of what you are implying.

The price of a used book on Amazon doesn't prove much. You can get The Fellowship of the Ring for $0.01. I think the sellers make their profits by overcharging on shipping.

The book is still too expensive for that which it should be used: compost.
