100 at SF Vigil for Slain
Gay Israeli Youth
s

At least one-hundred people tonight participated in a vigil, march and speak out over the killing of two gay Israeli youths this weekend in Tel Aviv - Nir Katz, 26, and Liz Troubishi, 16.

The vigil was organized by Rabbi Camille Angel (Congregation Sha'ar Zahav); Supervisor Bevan Dufty; Martin Tannenbaum (LGBT Alliance); organizer Lisa Geduldig; The Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco; SF LGBT Center; Congregation Sha'ar Zahav; and Kol Tzedek: A Bay Area Coalition of Jewish Organizations for Justice and LGBT Rights.

Good turnout, with less than 24-hours notice, and the crowd was very diverse, from across the political, spiritual and sexual spectrum. And two Hasidic straight men joined us, to call for tolerance and justice.

We gathered at
Congregation Sha'ar Zahav, heard a brief speech from Rabbi Angel, then marched up Dolores Street, over to the gay community center on Market. It all lasted just under ninety-minutes.

Here are photos from tonight:
