U.S. State Dept Releases 2005 Human Rights Report on March 8

The State Department will release its latest report on human rights practices and protections tomorrow and I anticipate the report will again be inclusive and comprehensive regarding antigay abuses around the globe.

Unlike in previous years when the press and U.S. gay groups ignored the report's documentation of antigay violations, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this year will be different. Nothing would please me more than to read news accounts on the latest report mentioning the gay aspects and U.S. gay advocates using the report to aid and assist our brothers and sisters abroad.

Here's an excerpt from the State Department's news release today:
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will deliver opening remarks on the release of the State Department’s 2005 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices on Wednesday, March 8, at 11:00 a.m. Under Secretary Paula Dobriansky and Assistant Secretary for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Barry F. Lowenkron will follow the Secretary’s remarks, and Assistant Secretary Lowenkron will respond to reporters’ questions. This event is on camera and on the record, and will be held in the State Department’s press briefing room (Room 2209).
